How eBay fees are calculated (US sellers)

  • Final value fee: a percentage of the total sale amount (item price + shipping + handling + sales tax), set by category. Most categories: 13.6% up to $7,500 per item, 2.35% on the portion above.
  • Per-order fee: $0.30 if the order total is $10 or less, $0.40 if it is over $10.
  • Insertion fee: 250 free listings per month, then $0.35 per listing in most categories.
  • International fee: 1.65% of the total sale when the buyer is outside the US and you don't use eBay International Shipping.
  • Promoted Listings (optional): your chosen ad rate, charged only on sales attributed to an ad.

FAQ

How much does eBay take per sale?

For most categories, eBay charges a final value fee of 13.6% of the total sale amount (item price, shipping and sales tax) up to $7,500, plus a per-order fee of $0.40 ($0.30 if the order total is $10 or less). On a $50 item with $8 shipping and no tax, that is about $8.29.

Does eBay charge fees on shipping and sales tax?

Yes. The final value fee is calculated on the total amount of the sale, which includes the item price, handling, the shipping the buyer pays and sales tax.

Does eBay charge a separate payment processing fee?

No. Since managed payments, payment processing is built into the final value fee, so there is no separate PayPal-style processing fee.

Is there a listing (insertion) fee on eBay?

Most sellers get 250 zero insertion fee listings per month. After that, each listing costs $0.35 in most categories, and it is not refunded if the item doesn't sell.

What is the per-order fee on eBay?

$0.30 for orders of $10.00 or less and $0.40 for orders over $10.00. Athletic shoes sold for $150 or more have no per-order fee.

How do Promoted Listings fees work?

With general (cost-per-sale) Promoted Listings you choose an ad rate. If a buyer clicks your ad and buys within the attribution window, eBay charges that percentage of the sale on top of the regular fees. Enter your ad rate to include it.

What is the eBay international fee?

If the buyer's address is outside the US and you don't use eBay International Shipping, eBay adds an international fee of 1.65% of the total sale amount.

Is this eBay fee calculator free?

Yes. It is completely free, requires no account, and runs entirely in your browser.
