How the reverse math works
Order revenue T = item price × quantity + shipping charged. Etsy keeps 6.5% + 3% of T, plus $0.20 per item and $0.25 per order (and Offsite Ads if applicable). We solve for the T that leaves your target after those fees and your costs, then back out the per-item list price. The price is rounded up to the next cent.
Worked example
Item cost $8, you pay $4.50 to ship, buyer pays $5 shipping, target profit $10, no Offsite Ads, qty 1.
- Fixed outflows: $0.20 listing + $0.25 processing + $8 + $4.50 = $12.95
- You keep 90.5% of order revenue (100% − 6.5% − 3%)
- Need 0.905 × T − $12.95 = $10 → T ≈ $25.36
- List price = $25.36 − $5 shipping ≈ $20.36

FAQ
How does this Etsy pricing calculator work?
You enter your item cost and a target profit in dollars or a target margin percent. Optional fields cover shipping charged to the buyer, your postage cost, quantity and Offsite Ads. It solves for the list price so that after Etsy's US fees you still hit the target.
Which Etsy fees are included?
The $0.20 listing fee per item sold, the 6.5% transaction fee on price plus shipping, payment processing of 3% + $0.25 per order, and optional Offsite Ads at 15% or 12% (capped at $100 per order). The US regulatory operating fee is not modeled here.
Profit $ vs margin % — which should I use?
Use profit $ when you want a fixed dollar amount left after fees and costs (e.g. $10). Use margin % when you want net profit to be a share of order revenue (e.g. 40%). Margin is capped by what Etsy fees leave you — without Offsite Ads that is under 90.5% before your costs.
Does shipping charged to the buyer change the list price?
Yes. Transaction and processing fees apply to shipping you charge. If the buyer pays more shipping, less of the target has to come from the item price, so the suggested list price is lower.
Is this the same as the Etsy fee calculator?
No. The fee calculator starts from a price and shows profit. This pricing calculator starts from cost and a target and works backwards to a list price. Use both together.
Is this Etsy pricing calculator free?
Yes. Free, no account, runs in your browser.
