How Whatnot fees are calculated (US sellers)
- Commission: a percentage of the item sale price only (GMV). Shipping and tax are excluded. Rate depends on your category and your sales tier from the prior four-week period.
- Payment processing: 2.9% of the total the buyer pays (item + shipping + tax) + $0.30 per order. Does not decrease with tier.
- Tiers reset every 28 days: total completed sales across all categories set your next period's rate. Rate is locked for the current period.

How much does Whatnot take per sale?
For most US categories at the Standard tier, Whatnot charges an 8% commission on the item price (4% for Coins), plus payment processing of 2.9% + $0.30 on the full order (item + shipping + tax). On a $50 Fashion item with $8 shipping and no tax, that is about $4.00 commission + $1.98 processing = $5.98.
Does Whatnot charge commission on shipping?
No. Commission is calculated on Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) — the item sale price only. Shipping and sales tax paid by the buyer are excluded from commission, but they are included in the payment processing base.
How do Whatnot's tiered commission rates work?
Since September 21, 2026, your total completed sales over a four-week (28-day) period set your tier for the next period. Higher sales unlock lower commission rates by category. Your rate is locked for the full period; crossing a threshold mid-period lowers the rate starting next period.
What is Whatnot's payment processing fee?
In the US, Canada and Australia it is 2.9% of the total order value (item + buyer-paid shipping + taxes) plus $0.30 per transaction. In the EU and UK it is 2.42% + €/£0.25 plus VAT. Processing does not drop when your commission tier improves.
What is the lowest Whatnot commission rate?
Public rates bottom out around 4.5% for Fashion and 3.5% for Coins at the highest sales tiers. Rates as low as 3% are custom terms for the highest-volume sellers with an account manager — not something you apply for.
